Measure all ten natural nails at their widest point, following the curve of the nail. Check the measurements against the sizing information for your chosen set. Your left and right hands may need different sizes.

A press-on should cover your natural nail from sidewall to sidewall without touching the skin, pinching or needing pressure to stay flat.

If it is too narrow, try a larger size if available. If it is slightly too wide, gently filing the side edges may help, provided you avoid decorative details. Do not force a small nail into place.

If the curvature does not match your natural nail - see below. 

Nail curvature varies from person to person. A press-on that is too curved may pinch or spring back; one that is too flat may rock or leave gaps at the sides.

If the curvature is only slightly off, try using 1-2 layers of sticky tabs. If you experiencing pinching or discomfort, or the tabs cover your skin - remove the press-on and try the method below. 

If the curvature does not match your natural nail, try soaking the nail in warm water first for a few minutes to soften, then press and fit to your natural nails. 

Do not heat, bend or force the nail into place, or use extra glue to fill a large gap.

Lifting can happen when there is oil, moisture or cuticle residue on the natural nail, when adhesive touches the skin, or when air pockets form during application. An unsuitable size or curve can also prevent a secure fit.

If the issue is adhesion - follow the How To guide carefully. To maximise adhesion:

• Start with clean, completely dry nails.
• Gently push back cuticles
• Lightly buff away surface shine
• Wipe with an alcohol pad. 
• Let it dry, then avoid touching the nail surface.

Press-ons may lift if the curvature is not a good fit for your natural nails. If this is the case, try soaking the press-on in warm water for several minutes to soften before applying. See more details in the section above on sizing and fit.

Press-on may also lift because the adhesive didn't set properly - follow your adhesive’s setting time before getting your hands wet. 

If a nail lifts, remove it safely, clean away residue and dry both surfaces before reapplying. Do not glue over trapped moisture. See our application guide.

Nail glue generally provides a firmer hold. Sticky tabs are suited to temporary wear, easier removal and changing your look more often.

The best option depends on your fit, activities and how long you want to wear the set. Follow the directions for your chosen adhesive. Both methods are explained on our How To page.

Wear time varies with the adhesive, nail fit, preparation and daily activities. Glue generally offers a longer hold than sticky tabs, but there is no single wear time that applies to everyone.

Follow the instructions supplied with your adhesive. If a nail becomes loose or uncomfortable, remove it safely rather than continuing to wear it.

Gentle preparation and patient removal help reduce the risk of damage. Avoid aggressive buffing, scraping or pulling nails off. Never force a press-on that feels uncomfortable.

Apply only to healthy, intact nails and skin. Stop wearing them if irritation or discomfort develops. See our removal instructions.

Soak in comfortably warm, soapy water and wait until the nails release easily. A little cuticle oil around the edges may help. If they resist, allow more time. Do not pull or pry. Forcing the press-ons off your natural nails will damage your nail plate.

Allow your adhesive to set fully before getting your hands wet, following its instructions. Once set, dry your hands and nails thoroughly after washing.

Prolonged soaking, swimming and repeated exposure to hot water can weaken the hold. Wear gloves for washing up and cleaning, and remove a nail safely if it starts lifting.

Check the fit of each nail first. Prepare your natural nails, apply your chosen adhesive, then align and press each nail into place. Follow the adhesive’s directions for holding and setting times.

Your press-ons can be worn again if they remain in good condition after removal. Reuse depends on the adhesive, removal method and care of the finish and decorations.

Remove gently, clear away adhesive residue using a compatible method, and let the nails dry completely before storing them in their case. We do not promise a fixed number of wears. See our care guide.

Small adjustments to a plain edge may be possible with gentle filing. Avoid filing through chrome, artwork or sculptural details, as this can damage the finish. Cutting can crack a nail or disturb its decoration.

If you are unsure whether a particular design can be adjusted, contact us before altering it. Never heat or bend the nails to change their curve.
